EPL licensee sues Apple in Thailand

Cable Thai Holding (CTH) is the Thai company who is the licensee for the English Premier League (EPL) broadcasting rights in Thailand. CTH licenses AIS as the only mobile-phone operator authorised to broadcast live EPL matches in Thailand.

CTH filed a lawsuit in September at the Central IP/IT court in Bangkok, against Apple for selling applications through its App Store that enable people to view ELP matches on mobile devices. CTH claimed damages of 100 million baht (USD25 million).  Apple's App Store apparently made available a downloadable app called "Sport Channel" by developer Somsak Boonpetch, which allows users to view live broadcasts of EPL matches.
