Smooth as Thai Silk

Isan Indigenous Thai Silk Yarn is a unique textile art in terms of its production process. This gives the silk fabric a texture which is smooth, soft and shiny. The process relies on Isan people’s silk reeling skills. Isan people come from Thailand's northeast near the Lao border. The reeling technique has been passed from generation to generation to become local wisdom. Silk has always been a part of the culture of the Isan region. In fact the Isan region is the origin of all Thai silk.

The Thai Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand has continued its push to develop and market the products of its people by filing GIs in Thailand and Vietnam.  The Thai GI was filed on August 1st, 2013 under the number 6-2013-00001.

The development of unique cultural skills combined with bio-resources continues to be a Thai IP focus.
