Philippines fake goods data

The Philippines government has announced an overall decline from last year's all time highs in seizures of fake goods. The chart shows the 2012 product breakdowns. The government complained about its consistent position on the USTR's Priority Watch list and indicated that made morale low. They seem determined to get off the list - see here.

But IP Komodo worries that such seizure figures are mere window dressing since raids are still extremely hard, prosecutions take many years and Customs seize almost nothing at the borders.

The IP office is holding is second Philippine Anti-Counterfeiting and Piracy Summit next week in Manila to increase public awareness of, and appreciation for IPRs.
