Madrid begins in Philippines

Tuesday 25th July saw the Madrid Protocol enter into force in the Philippines. The IP Office was promoting Madrid at the Franchise Asia conference last week, and so shortly after was able to announce that 12 local firms had filed Madrid applications that day. 10 applicants were from Cebu and 2 from Manila, and included local companies in the pharma, foods and fashion sectors, designating countries around the world for trademark protection.  IP Komodo is sure the IPO is happy that local companies are off and running with it and is thus eager to promote Madrid.
