Patent filings in SE Asia rise

Intellectual property filings worldwide increased significantly in 2010, according to the latest report from WIPO.  A strong rebound in IP filings followed the 2009 slump, with 7% growth in patent applications in 2010.

The US patent office saw 7% growth for the first time in several years. China overtook Japan to the no. 2 spot.

But notable to IP Komodo is the large number of double-digit growth markets in South East Asia - with Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and Vietnam all seeing over 10% growth. This will be no suprise to giant lizards living among these new economic tigers.
